Disk read error
Any idea what could be wrong with my win xp when I try to boot up, after the POST (a table showing all the resources allocation) a message appears 'A disk read error occured' Press Alt/Ctl/Del' to restart and when it restarts, its back to the same situation. Has my Hdd gone bad? It depends.

The following error message is displayed just after the disks are detected in the BIOS: "a disk read error occurred. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart" My system details are as follows - MSI KT4 Ultra, Athlon 1.4Ghz 266FSB, 256MB Crucial ECC PC2100 SDRAM, Western Digital 120GB 8MB Cache HD (1200JB).

Friend has an XP machine that is giving him the following error message when he tries to boot up... "disk read error occured, depress ctrl, alt, del to start" Of course when he hits ctrl, alt, del, it does the same thing again. Anyone got a cure? I am going to his house in the morning.
